Emma Jackson is a visual artist based in Manchester, working across print, drawing, painting and spatial processes. 
She completed an MA with distinction at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2019 after nearly two decades working in the creative industries. In 2025 she was awarded the Flourish – Excellence in Printmaking (Overall Award) by West Yorkshire Print Workshop. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, New Light Exhibition of the North, and the RBSA Print Prize Exhibition.
Emma was elected an Associate Member of Manchester Academy of Fine Arts in 2025.
Artist statement
My practice explores how fragments, traces and partial images can evoke experiences beyond what is physically present.
Printmaking remains central to this enquiry. The tension inherent within print processes offers a vital framework through which imagery is disrupted, translated and re-encountered. Through repeated acts of transformation, images become increasingly detached from their points of origin, opening into new possibilities and associations.
Whether drawn from observation, photography, found materials or constructed forms, the work investigates the relationship between physical presence and lived experience.
Underlying these investigations is a fascination with the tension between our physical insignificance and the immensity of inner experience.
